Major Sports Events in 2021 (part 1)

Although some professional European football leagues have been ready to come back, we still have to patiently wait for the most major sports events to resume. Here are some of the most popular sports events all over the world in 2021.

UEFA Euro 2020

UEFA has decided to postpone the UEFA EURO 2020 to the summer of next year. This has also affected the UEFA Women’s EURO 2021, which has been rescheduled for 2022.

The Tokyo Olympic Games

Japan was planned to organize the Olympic Games in Tokyo in summer of 2020, which would mark the second time in 57 years that the city hosts the summer edition.

However, due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Summer Games were quickly pushed back until next year. The opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 is now scheduled to be held on the 23 July 2021 instead.

Tennis

When the COVID-19 outbreak took the world by storm in March 2020, just like any other sport, tennis season quickly came to a halt.

There have been no professional competitions to be held before 3 August this year, and both players and organizers have showed doubts as to whether or not there will be any tennis tournaments being held at all this year.

The world health crisis is forcing everyone to take one day at a time, and it is likely we will end up seeing all tennis resumed in 2021. There are still no certain dates for next year.

Luckily, the US Open was held on its originally scheduled dates from 31 August to 13 September in Flushing Meadows, New York City. However, the event was played with no fans on site. Instead, the USTA worked hard with global broadcast partners to ensure that their fans could virtually experience the excitement and thrill of the games.
